We have the coolest conference table in my team's new Autodesk San Francisco Pier 9 Advanced Research Lab!  The conference table was constructed with 3D prints and addressable LEDs designed by Lumigeek and Autodesk employees. The wood table was created using locally sourced book-matched Bay Laurel, that was harvested from a fallen tree in California. The darker spot seen on the slabs is visual remnant of what caused the tree to die. The physical pattern for the 3D printed crystals was designed in Autodesk's 3ds Max  by colleagues Evan Atherton and then Heather Kerrick took the design into Autodesk Fusion 360 to finish it off.

If it looks eerily familiar it might be as it was the same wizardry used in the Coolest 3D Printed Speakers in the World, The speakers that patterned the light from the music they played. Imagine the conference table LEDs programmed to make animated balls of fire to react to audio received by microphones in the table to indicate who was speaking during a meeting. The possibilities are endless, and the results are phenomenal uses of technology and true conversation starters.
