Such a great time over the 2 days for the inaugural AUGI CON24 event. Thank you to the 1000+ registered attendees from over 40 countries that attended, presenters, panelists, and AUGI board. User helping Users Community and all volunteers. The video recordings will be available in a week or two for AUGI members, and membership is free.
Next year will be even bigger and better! There was definitely many attendee requests and feedback for an in person event with beer mugs and a beer bust. Maybe we can gather some of the best sponsors and volunteers to help make this possible and available for anyone in the community to attend.

The AUGICON Sessions!
My overview with screen captures.
It was great to see my friend, and longtime AUGI supporter, Lynn Allen open the event up. Lynn discussed some AUGI history, an overview of AUGICON, a preview of the opening day sessions, and the new Community Platform and App. She also had some fun AUGI trivia for people to guess at.
Calling All Technical Managers Panel with Robert Green
Robert Green held an amazing panel with panelists representing decades of valuable CAD Management experience. and the chat during the panel was very active with a lot of agreement and discussion. The panel highlighted the fact that all tech managers face similar challenges, but we have different ways of solving those challenges.
Panelists:
- R.K. McSwain
- Shelby L. Smith
- David Butts
- Alex Lepeska
Day 2 was kicked off with Shaun Bryant, a former AUGI Board member.

The AEC Software Industry Panel I moderated
I quoted from the movie Smokey and the Bandit “We have a long ways to go, and a short time to get there”.
Panel
- Purvi Irwin AIA
- Evan Troxel Director at TRXL and AEC industry Expert / Podcaster
- Matt Arsenault Autodesk Product Manager, Revit Data Workflows
- Altaf Ganihar CEO and Founder of Snaptrude
- Timothy Halvorson Design Technology Consultant at 7fold
- Clifton Harness Co-Founder & CEO Testfit.io
- Aaron Perry Head of Digital Design at AHMM
Takeaways:
- Structured data is mandatory to allow machine learning, AI, and knowledge insight of data in the files.
- The cloud can make this easier than standalone file formats and translations.
- AI needs to be more task/service specific than a general AEC AI on a tool. For example plumbing and Mechanical would require a more specific domain expertise trained AI. This is a big problem and one Clifton felt could take 30 years to solve.
- User Interfaces can be a challenge to the users.
- There are definitely different perspectives where we are going, but also some common issues to solve together. Working together instead of many AEC vendors competition in silos is not beneficial to software users that rely on multiple vendors and are impacted with translations and data exchange for their workflows.

Thank you to everyone!
Join 500,000 CAD/BIM Professionals to Connect, Share & Learn Together AUGI has but two prime directives. The first is to assist its members by presenting programs and information that will enhance their use of digital design software. The second is to combine the united voice of the user community to software developers, thus assisting in product development and giving users input into the process. AUGI.com
