This past weekend I spent some time underwater scuba diving and picking up debris in the small Spanish Oaks Reservoir. The water ranged from 48-52 degrees Fahrenheit. I was fine scuba diving in a 7mm wetsuit with a hood and gloves except my face which felt like I was eating ice cream too fast and getting brain freezes for the first couple minutes.

I found several plastic bottles and bags as well as a aluminum boat oar and what appeared to be a plastic ear gauge luckily not still in someone’s ear. We saw several nice large trout checking us out instead of the fishermen’s hooks.

Thanks to my friends at Dive Addicts for putting on this good underwater civic project and for serving us delicious hot BBQ sandwiches as we exited the cold water.
