Global Architecture and Interior Design Student Competition

My local Portland VR collaboration friends over the The Wild are hosting the first annual Global Architecture and Interior Design Student Competition at the VR/AR Global Online Summit.
Global Architecture and Interior Design Student Competition

Six student finalists will be selected to share their original 3D models in a live-streamed competition in virtual reality. Applications are due May 20th and the jury includes thought leaders Amy Peck (HTC Vive, EndeavorVR) and Aubrey Tucker (ETRO Construction).

The design challenge:
Design a space that encourages digital socialization or innovative social distancing. This design could be the future workplace, an office, a public space, a lobby, entryway, a room or building using smart technology, or another utilitarian design idea.

How to Enter

  • Fill out an application here. Deadline is Wednesday, May 20th by 11:59pm PST.
  • VR headset recommended but not required to apply/participate. To participate, you must have minimum VR headset or PC requirements to install The Wild. Learn more on how to get started
  • 3D model submission: Revit or SketchUp models preferred; GLTF, FBX, OBJ ok.
  • Be prepared to describe your project. What social interaction does it provide, what was your inspiration, how did you create it, and why do you deserve to win?
  • 6 student finalists will be selected to participate in the competition.

Why are we doing this?
As people have been sheltering in place and working from home, there will be a reluctance to go back to the public spaces and offices of yesteryear. We wanted to challenge architecture and interior design students to show us their innovative ideas for safe, social-distanced spaces of the future.
