Below is a great list of reputable charities and assistance organizations for the devastating Nepal natural disaster to help before it becomes a much worse humanitarian disaster.

Emergency Funds – Nepal Helping Earthquake Victims in Nepal

In response to the tragedy inflicted by the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on communities across Nepal, we have assembled a list of recommended organizations that are providing relief to residents of the region. We are actively monitoring the situation and will continue identifying the most effective and efficient organizations providing disaster relief and recovery to the affected areas.

American Nepal Medical Foundation promotes the advancement of medical training and practice in Nepal Promote and facilitates continuing medical education in Nepal Strengthen research capability of Nepali health professionals and foster collaboration with North American research institutions.

The American Red Cross has been working with The Nepal Red Cross (NRCS) since 1999, with its first long term project, focused on earthquake preparedness in Kathmandu, dates back to 2001. NRCS is headquartered in Kathmandu and has branches in all 75 districts, more than 1,300 sub-branches, 1.1 million members, and 100,000 active volunteers.

CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere) is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. CARE has seven decades of experience delivering emergency aid during times of crisis. Our emergency responses focus on the needs of the most vulnerable populations, particularly girls and women. Last year CARE worked in 90 countries and reached more than 72 million people around the world.

Direct Relief is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that provides medical assistance to people around the world who have been affected by poverty, natural disasters, and civil unrest. Direct Relief can work with healthcare professionals and organizations on the ground and equip them with the essential medical supplies and equipment that they need to help people recover from a disaster.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) helps people worldwide where the need is greatest, delivering emergency medical aid to people affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters or exclusion from health care.

Give2Asia works with community-based organizations throughout Asia, connecting them to corporations, foundations, and individual donors to charitable causes, coordinating comprehensive programs that address the region’s greatest needs; currently conducting initial assessments with local partners in Nepal to develop long-term rehabilitation initiatives in the aftermath of the tragic earthquake.

Mercy Corps is a leading global humanitarian agency saving and improving lives in the world’s toughest places. With a network of experienced professionals in more than 40 countries, we partner with local communities to put bold ideas into action to help people recover, overcome hardship and build better lives.

Oxfam is an international organization dedicated to fighting poverty. It also has a presence in Nepal. Donate to Oxfam’s relief efforts in Nepal, here.

Real Medicine Foundation is aligned with governments and international agencies in eighteen countries on four continents around the world; we partner with and empower local populations, co-creating long-term solutions that are self-sustainable. RMF believes that real medicine focuses on the whole person, reaching beyond medical and physical care to include economic, social, and emotional support as well.

Samaritan’s Purse  is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine.

Save the Children is an international non-governmental organization that promotes children’s rights, provides relief and helps support children in developing countries. It was established in the United Kingdom in 1919 in order to improve the lives of children through better education, health care, and economic opportunities, as well as providing emergency aid in natural disasters, war, and other conflicts.

Search Dog Foundation (legal name National Disaster Search Dog Foundation) is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization based in Ojai, California. Their mission is to strengthen disaster preparedness in America by partnering rescued dogs with firefighters to find people buried alive in the wreckage of disasters. The teams are provided at no cost to fire departments and other emergency service agencies throughout the country. Six SDF search teams have already been deployed to Nepal.

Seva Foundation has been a leading innovator since 1978 in the delivery of vital eye care services to the world’s most vulnerable including women, children, and indigenous peoples. Seva is headquartered in Berkeley, California, with regional offices in Nepal, Tibet and Cambodia and partner offices in 11 countries. Seva’s Sight Program works to restore eyesight and prevent blindness in over 20 countries around the globe.

Shelter Box provides emergency shelter and vital supplies to support communities around the world overwhelmed by disaster a
nd humanitarian crisis.

UNICEF works to ensure that every child has a safe and healthy childhood is on the ground in Nepal aiding children and families. You can donate to UNICEF’s efforts online. In addition, you can automatically donate $10 by texting “Nepal” to 864233 (UNICEF).

World Vision is a Christian organization that helps bring children out of poverty, and tries to build communities with its relief work. The organization already has a presence in Nepal. Donate to support World Vision’s relief efforts in Nepal, here.
