Autodesk Generative Design Workshop 2018 – Overview

We had yesterday planned in sunny Portland Oregon yesterday but it was so popular that it was held again for another full session of new participants today. Participants not only got free training, free time limited licenses of Fusion 360 Ultimate and generative design technology, but they also to see the new Autodesk Portland office 6th floor deck overlooking the river and downtown Portland on a beautiful and sunny day.

They even seen a multiple bridge lift for barge traffic on the river.

The generative design technology has a great deal of promise to change many the processes and workflows of design. It is not just topology optimization, but actual design options considering form, materials, strength, and the manufacturing processes.

Tomorrow is the event in Boston, and it appears to also be full.

Experienced Mechanical Engineers, Industrial Designers, Structural Engineers, and anyone closely tied to the design and manufacturing process interested in adopting generative design into their product development process.

By the end of the session, attendees will:

• Understand what generative design is, how it is different from geometry creation tools, and how it is so much more than light weighting or topology optimization.
• Experience the role generative design plays in product development and real-world problem-solving.
• Understand the foundational concepts you need to succeed when defining, generating, and exploring solutions through multiple hands-on exercises.

The class will take place at Autodesk’s Boston Build Space on Thursday, May 24th from 10 AM to 5 PM and will include lunch and a closing networking/social hour.

At the end of this workshop, you will be granted access to the generative design technology in Fusion 360 Ultimate for 15 days, which will allow you to test your own concepts, designs, & engineering problems.
