This weekend Autodesk employees in the newly opened Portland office were invited with their families to enjoy a housewarming party and also have the opportunity to make a difference in the community. It was awesome to enjoy the space with employee families and see how excited the employees were to show off the new office.

We planned a nice activity for those children that wanted to learn something and make a difference in the community. The high school FIRST robotics and LEAP team I mentor, Team 1540 Flaming Chickens and InventTeam of Catlin Gable brought their award winning JuiceBox parts led by their fearless teacher Dale Yocum. 5 new JuiceBoxes were assembled and ready to be installed in a local houseless community where the recycled competition robot battery combined with solar power cells and a case will provide light at night and power to charge phones and devices for individuals in need. This brings the count of installed JuiceBox to 90.

I got to take a couple of the students on a tour of the office and grabbed their photo on the deck.

One team member, Solomon and his father were talking about their Agape Village project this summer to build small houses for houseless in Portland.

What an inspiring group of young adults, that have just inspired more young adults and their parents to make a difference in the world we live in. I heard several employees say this was a great activity and it felt good that it was making a difference.
