Today I received an update notice for the Adobe Flash Player (and I had thought Flash was dead and still look forward to that day) but I noticed something that could cause come serious system issues if you don’t pay close attention to what Adobe set as a default in their Windows Flash update installer. Many times if you have more than one antivirus software installed it can and will cause problems especially if it is a antivirus software with a long history of issues and false positives or slowing down performance of machines.
In todays Flash update, I see that Adobe places their default to install MacAfee Antivirus as an optional install. IMHO if it is optional make it off and let the customer select to install it not force it on them,. The same problematic high tech venus flytrap is in the JAVA updates by Oracle installing programs not related to JAVA.
Be careful of installer options as it appears to be a growing trend and used to be limited to freeware installers but unfortunately now making it into mainstream updates and utilities and a trap for those that rush through an install process.
