Autodesk acquired REALVIZ in 2008 and several of the team based in France. This team went on to deliver the photogrammetry technology (turning photos into 3D models) for Autodesk. This technology started as ImageModeler and then Project Photofly which went on to become 123D Catch, ReCap 360 and some of the technology within Autodesk Memento.
A few weeks ago many attended the REAL2015 event. While there at REAL2015 I realized there was a reunion of sorts with many of the former REALVIZ team attending and took some photos of the group.
Here is the REALVIZ Reunion from REAL2015:
Autodesk:
Dominique Pouliquen, Luc Robert, Stephane Nullans, Stephane Negri, Emmanuel Gallo
Xrez (www.xrez.com):
Greg Downing
This acquisition of this technology and the new Autodesk employees back in 2008 in my opinion changed some of the technology landscape and strategy of Autodesk. It was a core of the Reality Computing technologies, projects, and services that we seen so prominently and showcased at REAL2015.
Cheers,
Shaan
